| Site Downtime - Security Issue |
| The web server tightened security measures and file permissions had to be corrected. The corrections have been made and the site is back up. Sorry about the downtime. |

| Nameserver Change |
| There may be some odd downtime and accessing because the site was moved to a different web server and its DNS records needed to be changed. The info will take about 24-48 hours to propagate before the domain settles again. |

| Database Corruption |
| As of late Wednesday, past 11pm EST, a bug triggered a database corruption that affected the story indexes and review files. An automated repair was performed since a table check could not be run with the corruption. Some index and review data may have been affected. However, the fiction's body text is saved in a separate directory from the indexes and were not affected. |

| All pennames with an email address we could locate are back up. If you don't notice your name on Authors, please add it back in. If you notice your name is added in and don't have password access, use the Lost Password link and your password will be sent to the email address registered under Mirrormere. If not sure which email address was registered, contact mirrorstaff@yahoogroups.com with your penname and we'll send the email address used. We're unable to supply the actual password because they're encrypted. The following are authors we couldn't add back in due to a missing email address: Celebwen, Kitten, and Mushroom Maiden. If you're one of these authors, please add yourself back in. If you know a contact email address for any of these authors, please contact mirrorstaff@yahoogroups.com with author name and email. It'd be appreciated. Nearly all A-D author fics are back up. We're working our way through author folders. If we couldn't locate a title in the body of the fic and/or couldn't set-up an author account because of no known email address, we couldn't reupload the files. Please claim 'orphan' files by double-checking http://archive.nu/mirrormere/stories/ to make sure all your files have a story title on the fic. Site relocated back to its original location. The option of adding favorite stories to individual user accounts is enabled. The 'Add to Favorites' link should appear on stories now for logged-in users as a way to bookmark favorite stories/authors. |

| Reconstructing Indexes |
| As of April 20, 2004, there was a *major* screw-up. The MySQL database is gone and the automated back-ups did not include this database. This translates to all user info, story info, counts, and reviews are gone. However, site reconstruction is underway and the database is now being backed-up separately to make sure this doesn't happen again. The ~1,700 LOTR RPS and FPS files are still online but unlinked. Duplicates of the old files can be found at http://archive.nu/mirrormere/stories/ If you get errors while loading up the reconstructed Mirrormere site, this may be a legitimate problem or a *temporary* web server issue, which should only require repeated hitting of the 'refresh' button on your web browser. I'm NOT happy with my current webhost since their very awkward web server migration, and if these problems are going to be longterm, I'm going to change webhosts. |
